So, what do you guys think? Will they make Nuendo and Cubase into integrated proprietary rigs like ProTools?

Like uhhhh.... who cares anyway?!?! :D

Seriously though.... if they do anything "drastic" things may possibly get very interesting.

MERRY CHRISTMAS Everyone! :)

My guess is they will try to develop proprietary "all in one" systems that lock you into their products (this will come from Yamaha). This may work in increasing sales in the more specialised market segments but could damage the development path for Nuendo and Cubase.

My 20 cents is spent.

Cheers

I think it'll be a mess - "NuCuBasuendo-SUV2".

It'll be responsible for a number of roll-over accidents in a lot of music rooms.
The subject of many recalls.

Not that its gonna matter much.

Doesnt matter, I still love yamaha. I own pretty much one (or many more) of yamaha things. Drums, guitars, basses, monitors, keyboards, mixers, TV, dirtbike, amplifiers, tape deck etc... lol Most solid products from any brand Ive ever encountered. Rarely the greatest, never the worst... but always work.

I love yamaha :) :D

but this makes me sad.... very sad.

I've had 2 yamaha electric guitars in the past 10 years and they were both really good. I was very impressed with the necks on them. Wish I had one of them back. I bet I could find one in a pawn shop cheap.

I like some Yamaha stuff, I've got a Motif keyboard.. the sounds are great but
the user interface is the most convaluted user UN-friendly piece of gear I've ever used. Many times I came close to bashing the crap out of it with my sledge hammer.. :) even after watching the dvd several times.. forget it. If the sounds weren't so great I would have destroyed it in frustration. I know I'm not the only one too cause the motif forums were full of complaints about it.
They'll probably do the same to any software they come in contact with..

Yamaha is going to kill that company. That's ok. Can you see a bunch of Japanese sitting around at a board meeting speaking German?

Can you get support from a guy at Yamaha that uses digital for a living? Nope! Can you talk to someone and get staight answers about the digital engine, summing, etc? Nope! Do they make a pretty looking console? Yep. Are they user friendly? I don't think menus and vague graphics are user friendly. I don't think that I should have to have a computer to control a box that is emulating a real console. What a botched implementation of crappy digital audio.

If they do to the company what they do to themselves, then watch the execs grab onto a piece of floating ice cause the big ship is going down.

Well let's see - I don't use or like Nuendo.
I own a Yamaha Nylon string guitar which I think is nice.
I never cared for Yamaha keyboards or mixing boards & If I were into motorcycles I would rather own a Harley.
So I guess I could say Yamaha buying Steinberg doesn't matter to me at all.
Just do me a favor and keep Yamaha away from Bob Lentini & Saw Studio - now that would upset me....
