Footswitch on BCF2000 to mute effects

Has anyone figured out how to assign the foot switch jack on the back of the BCF to run a mute button for effects return (VCA SUB where all effects can be assigned to) Effect kill between songs .
I'm racking my brain on the BCF2000 manual right now. Iv'e got a behringer momentary foot switch plugged in and its already showing activity .
Of coarse if i can get it to work I will have to put the hot channel in the right position when using switch.

I got it to half work by using the learn function on the BCF2000 But I can only turn the mute on but can't turn it off ( or if i program it to turn off) then it won't turn back on unless i reach over and hit the mute button on the controller ,,,I tried latched foot switch and unlatched and got the same result.
The expression jack doesn't work with the line six expression pedal I had in the cord box. I'm real close to figuring this out
