For folks that may be interested in MIDI Orchestration techniques, technologies or just 'interesting reading' - an associate here in Atlanta recently released his third edition of 'Guide to MIDI Orchestration'. It is a book on just that, lots of info, techniques and reviews of what to use (sequencers, samples, etc.) and how to use (techniques) to get real orchestra sounds from digital technology. His background is as an orchestral, et al, scorer for film on west coast.

If you're just starting into orchestration with digital technology, or are deep into this and looking for more information (or even just a hobbyist wanting to know what it's all about), this is a very informative book. It's not cheap, and IS big (approx. 700 pages) but it is interesting!

Doing a search on 'MIDI Orchestration Gilreath' will give a series of reviews of this book.
