Hmmm. As far as I know the only thing that will do the trick is the Fourier Transform (FFT=Fast Fourier Transform) which is at the heart of sprectrum analysis of any kind...including pitch correction programs. So I'd like to know what's so different here. I'm guessing it's being able to take the FT data of a multi instrumental recording and decipher what is one instrument's harmonic versus what is a another instrument's fundamental. For example, how do you tell if a certain frequency is the 2nd harmonic of a guitar or the fundamental of a banjo? That would be tricky!
