Bob (or anyone else)...

If there a difference in the mix engine between SAW and SAC?

I hear a very definite difference if I listen to the SAW Output 1 vs. the individual channels through SAC (all at unity / clean / direct to SAC Out 1). The levels are the same, but there is definitely a much more open and punchier mix when taking the individual channels and summing them in SAC vs. in SAW.

The difference would make it worth transferring it to something different on the outputs when mixing down vs. using the internal SAW mixdown!

Any ideas?!

Should be no difference really... same math...

Make sure you have all settings the same and that there are no extra plugins inline on either engine.

Make sure you have the same dither options on both if at all.

Different buffer sizes can occasionally make compressors sound different. But I suspect a Levelizer left in the loop somewhere.
