Clock question

I guess I'll have lots of questions today, sorry in advance.

I'm using an rme fireface and an ada800. I have it all synced up between the two but only where the rme is slave and ada8000 is master. Wouldnt it be better to have the rme as master? If I set the rme to master and the ada800 to slave then the adat light will blink on the rme. The only way I got things working correctly was to set the rme to auto sync and the ada8000 to master.How do you guys set this up?

IF you have both in and out connected from the behringer it should work correctly. I just built a fireface sawstudio system for someone and tested it with the ada8000's earlier this week.

I just connected the adat out from the ada8000 to the adat in on the rme. So I need one more cable and then the rme can be master?

Yes... both cables connected... and making the RME the master allows you to open sessions at 44 or 48k and the hardware will automatically switch rates and follow.

Is there any preference as far a cable manufacturers. I picked up my first one at the guitar center and they had hosa and live wires toslink cables. I got the 5 foot live wires for $25. But there doesnt seem to be many choices as far as these types of cables are concerned. What are you guys using?
