MIDI over network?

I found this page of midi plugins and at the very bottom of the page is one for midi over networks. It says it's experimental but looks like it might help with controlling effects in real time from a remote.

Looks like you should be able to control the effects on the host with a midi controller on a remote machine.

This is the best one I've seen. And it's cross platform, I think they are the only one that will work cross platform, but I could be wrong.
