Watch the studio demo at post 41. This falls into the same category as Melodyne DNA for me—the "this shouldn't be possible" category. We post guys will grab this up without a thought, but it also has great possibilities for music effects. No VST yet, but it's in the works. I'm downloading the demo and trying it in Logic tonight.

$269 until June 1st, $399 after. If you buy the current AU version all the other versions will be free when they're released.

Woa. This is too cool. Thanks for the heads-up, Sean. I have three films in front of me with mediocre-to-lousy dialogue tracks. :)

Are there any Windows hosts that can load AU plugs? Is there any way I can try it out on Win7?

None that I know of.

It seems lIke a very useful plugin for my business. When it is out in VST, it will see a lot of use here. Too bad we can't automate it in SAW.

GREAT plug - certainly worth waiting for the VST version.
How about... "Got a PC"!

Come to think of it - what a great ad slogan!
Instead of "Get a PC".....
..have a campaign of satisfied customers answer the question of "Got a PC?"
(Smile)...."Got a PC!"

Wow - that is some piece of gear.

Maybe they need to call it the LIFESAVER.

cheers - mako

Thanks for the link,
Have tested the demo on a couple of trouble projects
one with a bad mp, where I have to use the room mics,
in this case I ran the room mics through enveil and it really
do remove the room sound and speak really stands out very clearly.
Another bad project I have was some master clases in France,
I am from Denmark so its not something just going and retake.
But we where promice the biggest church in town but something
went wrong and got the smallest, the teacher got this brilliant
idea to have 8 basoone players going. It was a nightmare to listen to
and recording, mostly becouse there where a film team who dont want
mics in the picture, anyway ran the front mics through enveil
and it was able to remove the short muddy room sound and
I am able to hear the 8 basoons what they are doing.
I think its one of the most useful plugin I have tryed the last
many years.

Thanks for the review, Sebastian. What do you mean by "bad mp"?

Hey, I wonder if this would make a crappy echoey room sound better in a live situation? Now that would be a lifesaver in so many clubs. Hmm interesting.

It would be a neat application, but I'm guessing it doesn't work in real time without holding back buffers.

The bad mp(micro port), the story is that I
hired a guy to do a recording for me,
but this guy did not use his ears and did not
react when the antenna was broken.
But after listening to the main stereo set
through enveil I think I am safe, I tested the output
on a couple of koleags to hear if they found
any strangness or dificulty to undestand the speak.
And they both found it very natual sounding,
a bit like boomed film sound where you still
get the moods of the surrounding without loosing
focus.

If your interrested in what these master clases is about
then go visit playwithapro.com
I have done most of them, I even did some of
still photos. The only sound I did not do is the
Carter concert and interview, its done in NY.

I would hope the echoey thing happens after the sound leaves the speakers. Pretty tough for a plug to reach out and fix that. :D

Bought it yesterday, not owning a Mac. Looking forward to the PC versions and finding out how much ADR it will eliminate. Miracles seem so much more likely in the 21st century. :)

:) Yes, I get that :D I was thinking of how in some of these places, alot of those reflections go right back into all the open mics, and compound the problem. I thought maybe magically it might help with that somehow. The whole theory of it seems mystical to me, so I figured what the heck.

I had a couple of 'bad audio' post projects dumped on me this week, so I finally took the time to really torture-test the plugin using a number of horrendous clips from projects I had finished. It's really pretty amazing. Tailored specifically for what we need it to do, it's extremely fast and simple to use. At the least, it does what I'm often able to do using a combination of expansion, EQ, and Transient Designer—but in a fraction of the time. But with some files it was downright miraculous, accomplishing what I had previous assumed was impossible. In addition to removing or reducing unwanted ambience, it brings the wanted audio forward and clarifies it (the focus control). Bought it. Some are calling it a "game-changer," and I think they may be right. FYI, the early release discount is only good for another week.

I have been using it for about a month,
and it do really do wonders, ofcause its best
to do a prober recording in the first place.

Like artifacs with noise reduction, unveil can actually
make recordings sounds like running through a serius strange
polyfonic gate if such a beast exist,

For me it have worked wonders.

I am using reaper as a host on a mac.

That would be consistent with my wife's perceptions of me. And, therefore, highly questionable. By me. And, so, likely close to the truth.
