Hello,
I am about to purchase a new laptop, would like it to have a PCMI or express slot. LOL can't find any! What is some of the newer laptops being used? How are they being used with RME digiface with not card slots.

A Thinkpad W520/W530 has an ExpressCard 34 slot. Others do as well, but they seem to be going out of style.
I would think the thinkpad would be pretty durable and give you all the power you need.

I haven't found any expresscard slots at stores. Just bought a new Dell E5520 that I'll be implementing SAC on. I'm hopeful that the included FW chipset will work with my ProFire's but I already have an expresscard that works fine if it doesn't. You typically have to look at the higher end laptops to get an expresscard slot.

I bought a used Lenovo T60 off eBay and I've been satisfied with it for SAC using Firewire and up to 16 channels of audio at 1x64 buffer settings. It has a PC Card slot, the newer models probably have ExpressCard slots.
This machine is 2.0GHz Core2Duo with 2G ram and I got it for $160. A pretty decent deal I think.

My backup rig is a Dell M4400. It has both PCMCIA and a expressCard slot. I use an RME card slot adapter in the PCMCIA slot and a UAD Solo laptop card in the expresscard slot. The computer has a FS Buss speed of 800 mgz and A 2.66 gig processor. Works great, especially since the UAD card is taking the processing load of the Reverbs I use.
