I need a new printer and want to get away from paper labels. I don't do a lot of 'em so I'm not interested in a workhorse, just a regular printer that can occasionally double as a label maker, direct to disc.

10-Q very much,
Bill

Bill, I have a 5? Year old Canon Pixma that I got free with a camera. Had to order a disc tray from ebay and download the European driver. I guess only Epson is allowed to print directly on discs in the US? Anyway, for one- offs it's great. Looks beautiful on JVC (formerly Taiyo Yuden) waterproof CDs. It does ok on paper, too, but it is kinda slow on CDs.

Look at the Epson options. Unfortunately, they stopped making the real cheap models with the CD printer tray due to lack of interest I guess.

Thanks Guys. I'll look at Epson. I'm pretty tired of how bad HP has gotten. I used to like them but the last 2 have been pretty bad.

I'm ready for a change.

Bill -- FWIW last time I was printer shopping, I was told that no one makes direct-to-CD printers anymore. I figure that's an exaggeration, but it did strike me that the store (Best Buy) had nothing that would print to disc in stock. I'd be interested to hear what you find out about the marketplace.

The Epson Artisan 730 shows it can do CD/DVD printing on the Epson web site.

Thanks guys. I found on-line that the Artisan does the trick for a pretty good price.

Best Buy will tell you it's not out there if they don't have it in stock.

I LOVE this place! Glad it's back. Thanks Bob!

Don't shop there anymore. :)

I think this was the same salesman who sold me the wrong cartridges for my new printer -- not to be discovered until I tried to install one of them several months later.

Weird ... I tried to put the angry face after my comment in my previous post, but somehow it ended up in the subject line ... and I can't make it go away.

.... not that its important...

You weren't by any chance following the instructions of a salesman from Best Buy, were you? :p
