Hammerfall DSP Settings

Hello,

I have a few questions based on the dialog box for this device. I am using an HDSP 9652.

1. The HDSP9652(1) tab (see diagram)
• The WDM Devices: 13
a) If you are are only using ASIO, is this required?
b) Can it be set to zero?
c) What is it for?
d) Does it have an effect on SAC performance?
Note: It appears that you are unable to change this setting. Setting it to zero and rebooting resets the WDM Devices back to 13.

2. The About tab (see diagram)
• Optimize Multi-client Mixing
a) I have read the RME manual and I believe I understand what this setting is for. Can it, or should it, be disabled if you are only using SAC?
b) Does it have an effect on SAC performance?

I usually leave the WDM devices set to a small number like 2 or 4... this allows a few midi ports to be active for vstis and midi controllers.

The Optimize option is new... not sure how it works... my initial feelling is to turn OFF anything not really needed, so if you are just trying to get the best from SAC by itself, this might be the logical choice.

I have set the WDM Devices to 2 and have disabled the Optimize Multi-client Mixing.

Will see how it goes...
