Hi everyone, I've just purchased a new computer I-5 processor, windows 7, 2,2terrabyte drives and 2 plextor burners. I've downloaded EAC to burn cue sheets, created a 5 song edl layout, It looks like it burns but it doesn't burn the cd.
Do I need aspi or asapi driver that will work in windows 7 ? Any help would be appreciated... Thanks Kimbo

It's that 'finicky EAC thing' that I alluded to recently. I've had mixed luck with it. I hope someone can get you on solid footing, here. Sadly, I'm not that guy. ;)

Remember -- there are other free cue-sheet-burning options out there (should EAC not work out for you).

Hi Kimbo;

Did you perform the following: (with a blank CD in the drive)

EAC | Drive Options (F10) | Click "Detect Write Features"
to verify what the drive is capable of?

If "Drive is able to write CD-Text" is ticked and the drive is not (which applies to most drives I believe) , then EAC never appears to finish burning, it just sits there.

Hope that helps!

Hi Robert,
I've been trying to get this working for Kimbo, and had him run this test. The drives are NOT capable of text writing, but even after the box is unchecked, the disc is not burned, even though it seems to complete the burn cycle. Since the drives are not capable of text writing, and he needs that feature, Kimbo is looking into replacing them. Maybe his problems will go away with the new burners. (Hopefully :))

EAC does interesting things here, too. It will rip a disc, but won't burn one. It won't even recognize a blank CD.

Even though I have no use for Cue Sheets, CSG does a great job of creating the wav files for CD tracks. [shrug]

Which you can then just stack in most burning 'wares. But, I guess, if someone wants all that other stuff that you can do with a cue sheet... (I rarely do)

Hi Kimbo:

In the EAC forum under the heading "FOR ALL PROBLEMS READ FIRST!" there is the following:

- If problems persist, try deleting the EAC options using Regedit.exe under the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\AWSoftware

This registry entry seems to contain all the settings pertaining to EAC, Although it does not mention it, i would assume the next time you start EAC it goes and reconfigures itself!

I have had similar issues in the past, and found that going to a later version of EAC fixed it, (I am still running XP (32bit)

Best of luck!
Robert V.

Remember I mentioned ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com/) in the first reply in the last thread you started on this stuff? :)

I've also been trying to find text capable drives, but I find it impossible to find them, no manufacturer seems to publicize this in the specs, they also do not mention if it will write upc / isrc codes so it all very vague. If anyone is aware off a drive that is text capable please let us know the details.

Looked at image burn, does not mention UPC / ISRC capability anywhere.
have to test it I suppose!

I have two 6 year old Lite-On burners in my studio machine, and they both write text and ISRC codes. I don't recall the model number. But you're right; it seems that manufacturers don't post that capability (or lack thereof) on their websites. Perhaps an e-mail to them would get some information, I don't know.

For what it's worth, I checked the CD/DVD drives in my studio computer, and as I said they are both Lite-On drives. The specific models are: DH-20A4P and LDW-451S (or maybe that's LDW-45lS, I can't tell if it's a "1" or an "I"-- or maybe a lower case "L"). I also don't know if these drives are still available; perhaps as NOS somewhere...

Thanks! I'm very interested to see if they still make drives for our specific purpose.

I thought Steve Berson would have chimed in here by now; he's quite knowledgeable about all things related to burning. (Well, in the recording field anyway). :)
