COMING SOON

Don't hold your breath. Behringer's "soon" is a rather long winded version. Perhaps they have become more careful not to release new products before the worst wrinkles have been ironed out. Or perhaps some of the required parts are not yet available in bulk. For whatever reason, many of their interesting announcements go stale before the product actually hits the shelves.

That's 1. AntonZ said "many of their interesting announcements go stale before the product actually hits the shelves."

The 1u EPQ amps "came soon" for a veeeeeerrrrrry long time. By the time they were actually available, there was also the Peavey IPR range, Crown Drivecore and Behringer's own iNukes. They were not the only affordable lightweight amps anymore, would have been "if they had come soon". The ADA8200 indeed. The iNuke 6000-4 (4 channel power amp). Many variations on the X32 engine have been announced for a while, only the X32 is currently available.

Edit: perhaps my choice of wording "stale" was a bit sharp and I do not intend to say nobody is interested in the other products in the X32 line (I have yet to hear negative reports on the X32 board), but on the other hand I don't feel bad about exaggerating that when "coming soon" on products can last well over a year.

I suspect the hope is some customers will defer purchases and wait for the Behringer gear to finally arrive. It forces other manufacturers to play the same silly game.

If behringer say it's coming soon, with no pricing and release date it probably doesn't exist.

As an ex-Behringer dealer, I can attest to the time between announcement and actual physical product in anyone's hands averages a year.

Since Behringer R&D is just around the corner and some friends of mine are working there I know at least a bit. True is that "comming soon" is more or less worthless:-) On the other hand, there are always reasons for the delay and some of them are well justified. Concerning the iX16, this mixer has postpone to end of this year. One reason for this is, that Behringer will integrate a complete WiFi router in this mixer. As you can imagine, that needs serious time for testing and international certification for this is really time consuming.

On the other hand, the X32 Producer is already in production and will hit the street in the next 4-6 weeks. I do have a X32 Rack prototype since Febuary with me, so these mixers are not vaporware. But a lot of things have to come togehter. So the iPad App needs further enhancement, for giving total control over all functions and features because the X32rack and X32core can be only controlled by the Xcontrol (which will be renamed in a few days btw.) and the XiControl iPad app. So the X32rack and X32core will be the last units that will hit the streets. Basically there are all ready for production, but the software needs an upgrade for full usability.

So the Ix16 is actually going to be a different product from that listed on the site... Better, but different to what's announced.

Personally I wish Behringer would give us these things as R&D announcements with an estimated production date rather than product announcements when the R&D isn't finished, the final product isn't complete and we're months from production starting.

Still it's probably done the job. I bet it's hurt sales of the DL1608

I really like the idea of the integrated router as long as it is a quality oem router AND it has an external antenna. I've been using wireless on gigs for a couple of months now. I can tell you for certain, by using the WIFI sniffers that antenna location is everything. If the antenna is low to the ground near the stage and you want to mix beyond the dance crowd, no matter what band you are using, you will have problems. The critical issues are this:
1. Use a reliable router.
2. Use a sniffer to find the control channel that has the least users and overlaps from other control channels. Set the control channel manually ASAP.
3. Make sure the antenna is as high above the audience as you can get.
4. 5GHz is blocked easier by physical objects than 2.4 GHz.

What I have heard, the build in WiFi should be something like this-->

I reviewed this controller some month ago and the WiFi part was flawless.
