Is anyone treading the Windows 8 waters with SAC yet? If so what kind of results are you getting?

I've used my laptop under windows 8 with a motu 828 mk2 and has success. There were some dropped buffer issues but I suspect that had more to do with the hardware than windows. It was certainly stable and predictable.

I tried it on my SAC rig early this year, because I wanted to use the newer Waves version that need a OS higher than XP. Before I made with Clonezilla a full backup of my SSD with my XP Pro Installation onto my large "recording" hard drive.
I tried a lot with Win8 Pro 64 but was not able get it running without buffer lost. Finally I made one small job with it. I liked the "light" behavior of Windows 8, but in the end of the 6 hour carnival party and up to 10 inputs i had approx 1000 lost buffers. I had some conversation with Bob as for him the Windows 8 upgrade worked without major problems but I was not able to find a suitable configuration of Windows 8 with SAC.
Now I'm back on XP Pro without the newer Waves version.
Possibly several additional background services and Windows 8 behavior must be changed to make it save also.
With the LatencyMon utility (http://www.resplendence.com/latencymon) I found especially the USB services brought temporarily a high latency into the system. But on this point I gave up after many hours.

BTW: Maybe this helps: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/faq/id-1655607/optimize-dpc-latency-windows.html

I would be interested in your experience if you give Windows 8 a chance.

I seem to remember Black Viper had service tweaks for Win 8. Have you checked it out? I use Black Vipers tweaks for my Win 7 machines and they run great. I may get two or three slipped buffers a night on my portable laptop rig with certain verb plugins, but I can't make my rackmount comps slip.

There seem to also be some touch screen issues as detailed in this thread:

Bob says they are fixed in the new 3.1 version maintenance release he's working on though.
