Hi Bob, :)

just a quick question :)

i often use Final Res Fx Patch because some Fx sound better than patching them to Pre or Post.

Can you please explain it to me how this Final Res Fx Patch works and when should be used. :)

Bertie, (lifetime SAWStudio user) :)

The Final Res is after all internal resolution conversion takes place...

For instance, if your mix is coming down from 24 to 16 bits, this patch point is after the internal truncation or dither conversion takes place and passes the final 16 bit stream to the plug-in. Be careful, some native plug-ins may not handle the 16 bit stream.

It was mostly designed to patch a final CD burner plug-in (which has not shown up yet), like the old Nero plugin for the older SAW products.

Be aware also, that this patch point does not allow buffer size manipulation, like the pre and pst 24 bit patch points.

I see no real reason why the patch point should sound better for some plugins... the pre and pst patch points are always passing 24 bit data streams, the Final Res may be passing either 24 or 16 bit data streams.
