It's not about how good they sound... it's about how accurate they are.

For $1500, I better forget I'm wearing them!

Ha! Yeah, I got that ad in my e-mail inbox today too. I wonder if they take trade-ins. My car MIGHT cover most of the cost. :D

You might want to read a thorough review.

IMHO, the Sennheiser 800 is a better product.

For that kind of money a pair of smaller Genelecs would be a better product. ;)

Richard,
Let me know if you are still interested in the Rode mics.

Even if they are there would be no reason to buy them at that price when you can get the MDR V6's brand new for under $100

...with a very heavy duty head band :)

.... and a couple of "L" brackets for neck supports.

I got some Sony 7520's a while back, not quite as stupidly expensive as the K812's, but stupid nonetheless. Now illegal to buy in the EU, as they have drivers which will handle 4000mW a side. A bit like speakers hanging off your ears.
Despite rave reviews, I didn't like them, far too bassy for listening to music for pleasure, or for mixing. Impressive, but just wrong.

My new favourites are AKG K550's. Very comfortable, great sound isolation for tracking, easy to drive and a very balanced sound, better than Senn HD650's in my opinion (although not as detailed). And relatively cheap - about the same price as Sony 7506's in the UK. Impressive.
