View Full Version : laziness or idea? (SAW's design for save and open record tamplates)

Dear Bob,

I have a question about saving record templates.
in order to clear understanding for all i want
to say, i remind here these steps (for those who
uses multirecording in lot of sessions).

we create new session, record some tracks, using
multitrack, with multi-path recording.
need some stop, saving this session. need to save
existing record template, Ctrl+click on close button
of rec panel. next we save this rec template through
File menu.
when we need to continue our work on this session
we open it, next if we need to continue recording
right as we once arranged all recording paths, we
must open our record template file in File menu,
next - to Ctrl+click on rec button of MT and it's all.

I only have to ask, why SAW designed so to save
and open the record tamplates so apart from saving and
opening EDL files? in most of cases our unique record-
assignements are exactly for corresponding sessions,
arn't they?
so, in existing design of SAW in order to do these
saveings and openings we must do two-step actions
((even 3-steps: 1)Ctrl+left Click rec pannel,
2) save record template file, 3) save session.
and the same for opening))
wouldn't it be nice to design saving-opening mechanism
the way it automaticaly will save the record template
that was last arranged within a session? and to automa-
ticaly open it with the corresponding session...
in ditto time the option of separate opening and
saving of rec templates may be remaining as avalible.

Your opinions?

Yura,

It already does save with the session... the save to files is just an extra feature for permanent storage and recall of your favorite templates.

If you create a template within a session by Ctrl-Closing the record meter window... then save you session... that same template will be there when you open the session the next time... simply open the session and then Ctrl-Click any record button and your entire record template will pop open.

You do not need to save the template as a file at all.. that is extra if you want to keep it around outside the current session.

I did a unnecessary action!
