Hello,

As an alternative to the Appsys Extenders, what about this:

Hello,

From Behringer...

Hello Dell,
Ah, I see. This particular functionality is not going to work with a air of SD8 boxes, as these boxes slave off of wordclock provided by an X32 mixer through the AES50 ports. Since this isn't happening, the SD8 is not going to function. I would recommend a pair of S16 digital snakes, which can be set up to generate their own master wordclocks, which is a function the SD8 does not have.

....Interesting!

Most of the stage boxes are not designed to be their own digital snake. If you're looking for an inexpensive way to just yourself a 16 channel digital snake or even a 16x16 digital snake. Look around on eBay for the used Aviom Pro 16 gear. It is what I have been using lately. Not all of it is in great shape so be cautions. But it now costs a fraction of what it used to cost new and it's pretty damn simple to use. No worries about wordclocks or anything like that. Just analog inputs to analog outputs over CAT5. With the right boxes you can grow up to 64 channels (that could be 32x32 or 48x16, etc..) over a single piece of CAT5e with a 500 ft distance limit.

It is working well for me and I'm glad to that I don't have to rely on fragile little ADAT Optical connectors very much anymore. I only use them for computer to computer connections now and that's about it.
