After pricing addons for my laptop to come up to par, I read all of Bob's tweaking stuff and decided I couldn't do that. I use powerpoint heavy on my laptop and I realized that I needed a machine just for SAW. Besides, that is what my Roland 2480 used to give me. A proprietary recording computer.
WOW- I picked up a Centrino 2.0 with a gig of ram and it rocks! First, my wife and I went through the whole tweak list and took most all the preinstalled software off. I actually like "classic windows". Brings back memories.
Anyway, fireface installed in 10 seconds,no problems. My new Lacie 250gig usb drive started immediately. Saw loaded without a hitch and read my session file immediately. It asked me where the new data was for track 1 and then auto assumed the other 23 tracks were there too. WOOHOOO!
I'll post again tonight. ALL POPS AND CRACKS ARE GONE!!
