Was wondering if someone could help - I would like to have stereo output meters on screen during editing sessions. So far I have not been able to find a way. The old 'Meter Bridge' was great in older versions.

You can drag the output track up to a reasonable place in your tracklisting....

What have all my alt-fkeys setup to leave a place for inspector on the master track. Very very cool thing to do.

Don't forget about the I, R and O zones at the bottom of the MT... simply click in the O zone anytime you need to see the output stereo meters, then Alt-Click in the I zone to return you back to where you were...

In the end, this is really all you ever need and you don't have to take up precious screen real estate with meters onscreen all the time.

With the full SAWStudio you can lock the Zoom Mixer module to outputs and keep those channels locked on screen no matter where else you navigate.

If you want meters all the time, there are some beautiful meter plugins out there. Check out the PSP Audioware meters at www.pspaudioware.com (http://www.pspaudioware.com)

It's free.

You can also use my old meterbridge plugin with Jon Marshall Smith's Linker plugin for SAWStudio. It allows the older SAW32 and SAWPro plugs to work in SAWStudio.

Another great freeware VST meter plugin out there is Elemental Audio's "Inspector" - http://www.elementalaudio.com/products/inspector/index.html

It's really nice in that it gives both peak and rms and also has a real time spectrum analyzer and can even count or set alarms for consecutive overs.

btw - Bob - have you ever thought of making the old SAWPro Meter Bridge as a free download for the SAWStudio users who either didn't have Pro or the Meter Bridge?

Best regards,

Steve,

To be honest, no... I never really found a need for it in Studio... like I said, I prefer simply jumping to the outputs for a moment and then filling my screen with what I need to focus on at the current time.

With the existence of these other nice meter plugins and Jon's linker, I never really considered the MeterBridge re-write a good use of my time. :)

Bob -
I think you might have misunderstood me. I was not suggesting any additional coding at all - but instead asking whether you could just make the old SAWPro Meter Bridge plugin available on the sawstudio.com site as a free download in the exact same way that you made the old VST Linker dll available. Then people who were not on board the SAW line before getting into Studio would be able to use the JMS Linker and the Meter Bridge as you are suggesting here. Otherwise - it wouldn't be available to them.

Best regards,
Steve Berson

Steve,

Sorry... I did misunderstand... I'll consider that... could be fun.

Receiving the error "Cannot find FXini file!"... Im sure most of you will too ;) Just rest assured even with the error, it still installs to the directory you specify!

Wow, That was pretty fast!

I'm looking forward to trying the meterbridge out, and I agree that the free "Vintage Meter" plugin from PSP audioware is a really cool set of meters.
