I've been on the hunt for another reverb. I came across this today and so far, I am amazed. I'm not sure if everyone here knows about it but there was nothing in the search. There's a demo (with a real annoying buzz every 15 seconds or so, but worth it) here:

There's always SIR (http://www.knufinke.de/sir/index_en.html) , which albeit being mono, is free.

Interestingly enough, Christian (the guy behind sir) has been doing some support for Wizoo, sort of like an add-on so you can use impulses. Read it there, much better explained.

I have taken a liking to Ambience. (http://www.smartelectronix.com/~magnus/#Ambience) I like the features on it and it is donation ware.

SIR is great, and free, yes. With Wizoo I can run it in standalone mode and at the same time be tracking in Saw (with an acoustic guitar or vocals) and have great convolution reverb with no delay and not commited to tracks. I can't do that with SIR. I"ve been looking at outboards for this becuase I have a hard time dealing with any latency while using live mode. It says Wizoo will have the latency of your system (in high mode) but for some reason, with this one it doesn't bother me. I'll use the demo as long as i can take the beeps but so far I'm impressed. At first, I AB'd it to SIR and didn't see the big difference but after a day with it, I think it sounds much better IMHO. It's worth a checking out anyways.

Not trying to steal the thread (as if I ever...) and also not caring much Steinberg, but following the buy-out train Pinnaclesys was bought by Avid. So there goes my video company, I'll be...

Wasn't Steinberg bought by Pinnacle not long ago? I can't find anywhere what will be of it now

I thought Yamaha owned Steinberg now.

Yes, It seems like it was about a year or two ago?
I didn't realize that Avid bought M audio until I bought the FW1814:confused:

Bob, Do you have any plans to buy anyone?:D

Yeap, seems Pinnacle sold it to Yamaha. Obviously it wasn't enough to tame Pinnacle's financial troubles, it seems.

Mix it Like a Record

Kagi Media has announced Mix It Like A Record, a DVD/Pro Tools session based mixing course taught by multi-platinum, Grammy-winning engineer, mixer and producer Charles Dye.

A comprehensive mixing course, where Dye (Lauryn Hill, Jon Bon Jovi, Sammy Hagar, Julio Iglesias) goes into the studio to teach how to get record-quality mixes. Featuring three hours of instruction and 40 Pro Tools TDM & LE sessions on the ROM layer.

"Charles Dye has tackled a topic I wouldn't even know where to begin with, and succeeds with Mix It Like A Record," says 12 time Grammy-winning producer, engineer, and mixer Eric Schilling (Shakira, David Bowie, Gloria Estefan, Barbara Streisand). "The DVD and Pro Tools sessions create a framework for the subject of mixing that provide a path to jump-start the learning process—bypassing much trial and error."

Shot at Supersonic Studios in Miami, a beautiful ICON-based control room, the lessons dive deep into the heart of mixing by dissecting a mix; channel by channel, plug-in by plug-in, and automation move by move. Laying bare the reasoning behind every single tweak of Dye's mix.

What would it take to do a SS version?

Has anyone seen this dvd, and would recomend it? Or is it mostly stuff we probably already know do you think? I know what your next question will be... well, how much do you already know... right :) I still think hit songs and million sellers and the whole process involved is about 50% luck. I don't think any course could ever explain it.

i know there is a DVD but obviously the pro tools part is reuseless foe us

anyway i bought the russ long DVD and it was ok, this is pretty expensive to make a mistake on for me.

i would rather use my ears at this point and get some feedback on my stuff at this point in the process, if ia m still WAY off then i might get it.
