Firepod spidf question

I just got a firepod and I'm running it with Saw basic. The problem I've run into is that whenever I try to use the spidf input I get a message that only one device can be used with the selected driver. The spidif input shows up on the drop down choices, but whenever I select it I get that error message. Any ideas on why it would do that, or a work around?

My guess is that the digital input/output (S/PDIF in this case) doubles up on two of the analogue ins/outs. So, on many interfaces you can either have inputs/outputs 1 & 2 as analogue or digital but not both.

just found in the manual:-


Note: When using SPDIF In, you must select SPDIF in your FIREPOD Hardware Control Panel (located in your system tray – Windows XP only).

If this isn't selected, maybe it's not available to SAW.
