Hi,

I'm a new SAW basic user. I do all my recording on a Tascam
2488 and then move to SAW for mixing. The 2488 is all 24 bit,
but my computer only handles 16 bit. For mixing this is okay,
but when I want to use the SoundFile view, it wants to send
24 bit samples to the audio driver and that doesn't work.

Does anyone know if there is an audio driver that can do the
truncation to 16 bits so that I can make that my output device
for the SoundFile view and hear my sound files?

You can put any simple soundblaster card in the system now that will do 24 bit playback...

You should definitely get something in the system that plays back 24 bits... if all your source material is 24, seems to me you would want to at least have that capbitilty... even with a simple SoundBlaster Audigy card.

The SoundFile View is designed to output the audio in its native format... period... this is done on purpose for comparison reasons...

But then again, why do you need the SoundFile View anyway... you should be doing all the work in the MultiTrack... Use the FKeys for different zooms and MT displays and then do the marks and deletes and edits there.
