Analog I/O depends on the soundcard. SAW can only do 48 I/O unless you network more than one machine together. Then it can do 48 I/O x how many machines you have (assuming all of them have 48 I/O worth of soundcards).

That is true for 3.9x but what about 4.0?

ah ha!

bob will 4.0 handle this request?

SAC will handle 72 i/o with 72 channels for live console applications. 6 stereo auxes... 16 stereo monitor sends with separate eq and patch points... should be very fun.

SAWStudio will stay at 48 i/o with 72 MT tracks.

So SAC is going to be for the all out live mixing.... wow 72 I/O... thats big!

A little big for my needs. SACBasic, anyone?

No need for SAC Basic... SAC will not be expensive... so whether you use 8 channels or 72... it will all be the same. :)

Now you got me wondering - have you set a price yet? Or have an idea?

Not locked in on price yet... but you will love it... it will be quite the bargain. :)

You have in another mail talked about Sac could be used as a front end
for Sawstudio, is this still the plan ?

Still an idea... but the new 4.0 engine kind of eliminates the need for that... although there still would be some advantages.

Will it have an open output architecture, or how many assignable mix busses will there be? Ideally I need a matrix. Anyway to accommodate that?

There are as many outs as there are soundcard ins... so up to a max of 72 physical outs... I'd say that should wipe out any immediate limitations on out buses.

Better than a matrix... you will have the 16 stereo monitor full mixes... and you can always double and triple assign input channels to multiple buses and this gives you quite a lot of separate matrix type groups to feed whatever you need... don't forget the additional 6 stereo auxes for extra mixes.

This new 4.0 engine sound like it consumes a lot do be able to do all that. Again, how many miles for the galon?

That might work. I may need two systems ganged together to handle my needs. But that is still WAAAY cheaper than the alternatives.

Now, for the right I/O...
