Hi all,
I've got the following problem.
I recorded 8 hours into 1 wav file (with a "total recorder" like tool). Due to the wav limitation of 4GB the header info of the wav doesn't fit:
- All 5GB are on my hd
- All wav players (SAWStudio, Foobar, Shntool to split the file...) I use only recognize the first 1.3 hours (so that must be the remaining bytes after the overflow in the wav header)

Does anybody know a tool that ignores (at least the size) header data, so I can get all the data into smaller chunks to edit it with SAW?

Thanks,
Joerg

I think I solved the problem:
Audacity can import "raw" data. So I gave the 5GB file to it, set the offset to 44 bytes (length of wav header), set the frequency, bitrate, stereo...

It takes a little time to import the file, but I think it's faster than recording the 8 hours all over again:-)

Hi J***246;rg,

Not sure if this will help you in this particular case, but recently the EBU cooked up the RF64 spec. which is a new format similar to BWF that supports files larger than 4GB (obviously aimed at anyone working in high definition audio)

PS: OK, Audacity to the rescue .. ;)

I just mark 2 houers areas and then mixdown to new files.
