Hi to all you, friends!!

I have to ask you who has exactly Mixtreme and RME HammerFall s-cards to make some measuring actions.
The point is that I have Layla 24 and M-Audio Delta. both work stable enouth in SS till setting about 128x1 (lite session) & 256x1,x2 (hard session),
BUT, I interested the real figures - exactly, real physical latency I had measured for both cards very nearly are:

256x2 - 29 ms
256x1 - 17 ms
128x2 - 14 ms
128x1 - 8 ms

I have no opportunity to get some hardware from our sailor for a test before buying it - that is the prblm.
I lay exactly on makind a physical measurings, and not about theoretical
items.

please help me if you have a time. I must consider is it worth a deal to upgrade my sound hardware.

Very Thanks.

I have hammerfall with two tangos. Works well. I have never measured the latency but I have never noticed it.

I like the mixtreme better for the sake of the digital software mixer.
You can do anything with it. Build whatever you need.
Have a sub? Make a send with a LPF on it. Bang! get rid of your crossover.

Want to compress on the way into SAW? Add a software compressor. (the drawmer sounds good)

Want to monitor reverb while recording? Add a send and plug in.

Want some headphone sends?? Go ahead and assign them. tc
All the cpu is handled inside the breakout box not your computer.

How are you testing to get those timing? Are you looping output to input? Let me know your method and I will test my RME system and post the results.

THenk you for answering!
yes loop must be.
Please do the next:

make sure SS is in ASIO mode.
use the setting 128x1
1).in empty session 44100x16 assign first input track's "Input Source" to Dev 01 and enable switch Mono Left Only.
2).assign "Out asgn" of this track to [3-4] (2-nd button).
3).arm for rec track #2 and in record panel choose the source for recording:
you must choose in pop-up menu Mixer Channels -> [Chan 01].
4).arm for rec track #3 and in record panel choose the source for recording:
Mono Devices -> [Dev 02L].
5).connect phisical output #3 of soundcard with its phisical input #3.
you can make this loop through your external mixer. on the RME control
panel' uplet: mute input monitoring of [1-2] channels (first stereo pair)
and [3-4] channels (second stereo pair) .
6). connect phisical input #1 of RME with some sound generator. this may be
keyboard playing short click impulse.
7). start recording and play one click enouth.
8). done, you have two mono tracks recorded #2 and #3. make shure you are
in TimeMode. measure time in miliseconds between beginings of those two impulses at highest zoom setting. please switch in Sample mode from TimeLine menu and make aanother measuring of same latency.

You do graet help me.
ask if smthg wrong.

Yura,

Obviously this is just a test that not affect performance at all but, if we want to know the exact amount of latency added by the card driver, we need to see the amount of delay added by the AD/DA conversion.

Can you make this test connecting optical output to optical input? in other words use 1+2 and 9+10 or so...

If I am not mistaken I not mentioned of the performence at all in this test!
I just planed such test to see INTEGRED amount of latency that is a sum of.
SS latency plus HW latency. At all I dont hell interesting what sum it consists of. I interested of phisical result only.

Following your instructions, I get a result of .007 seconds, or 320 samples testing 44.1k/16bit loopback with a setting of 1-128 buffer for input and output.

This is a Hammerfall Multiface.
