Is something like this: http://www.alesis.com/ai4 currently available?
I've got some ai1 on eBay, but this is rare.
(waiting S.A.C, you know... ;-) I have DCX2496's in the monitor power amp racks, four DCX for eight stage monitor amps)

Cheers.
Carlo.

Do you need to convert from ADAT to AES or are you just looking for multiple outs from your DAW?

As far as AES soundcards - the Lynx AES16 and the RME AES-32 are both very good. Another option is tying a Sydec Mixtreme192 to a Sydec i-Box AES-4.

As far as ADAT to AES conversion - The Z-sys z-8.8a lightpipe digital detangler will do this - http://www.z-sys.com/pp_routing.html#z8a

If you HAVE to go Adat to AES, RME makes a conversion box:
http://www.rme-audio.de/en_products_adi_4_dd.php

but its not as cheap as the Alesis was. If you can use TDIF to AES, you are in luck, because the Tascam IFAE8s go for peanuts on Ebay. I bought the HR version for $75.00.

This would be perfect.
2.000$ are a steep price point, though.

I only have ADAT I/Os, so this would require another I/O card.
Interesting...

Of course, I just checked Ebay for the Tascam and there isn't one listed for under $300.00, but if you check completed auctions, you can find many for under $100.00.

Also, the Zsys are often found at bargain prices. I just went through a splurge of digital interface buying in December and got a 16x16 Zsys for $200.00!

The Alesis A4s do come up once in a while on Ebay, but are in demand, so its hard to get a deal.

MM

Hi Carlo

If you are going to use SAC., then you have to pay attention to
the drivers, eventhough most audio drivers are very good today
there is still difference.

Yes, I know.
This is why I'd want to keep the I/O interfaces I'm already using: a Profire LightBridge and a HDSP 9652.

What about one of the RME boxes such as:

http://www.rme-audio.de/en_products_adi_4_dd.php

or:

http://www.rme-audio.de/en_products_adi_192_dd.php

There's also an older version of the latter one you might find at retailers or on ebay.

Sorry to revive an old thread.
I found this new one:

Probably $399.00 street price...
