What software do folks here use for managing large amounts of *loose samples?

*meaning they are not part of a sampler preset.

You might find Basehead useful. It uses broadcast wave metadata as search criteria. So you could set up your samples with keywords and search by BPM, instrument, pitch, etc.

I use it to manage library music and sound effects.
