in my ever so humble and occasionally caustic opinion...
the blue balls suck. (no pun intended). very similiar sounds, hollow and muddy. Like if you cut 1K on an 57 a good bit.
but.. the baby bottle is a fabulous mic.

I have a Blue Baby Bottle. It's really nothing special. I use it just occasionally on certain accoustic musical instruments, such as banjo. Within the Blue's price range, I like the Shure KSM-44s much better. The Blue isn't quite as bright as I would like.

Yes. Not trying to be glib, but if you like the sound, get one. Whatever works for your situation. My old a cappella group tracked vocals with a Blue and a Neumann (I'm lousy with model names/numbers, but I remember we got the Blue for around a grand, so it may have been the Baby Bottle... the Neumann we got for around $1,500, so who knows which one that was). The Blue just didn't sound good on my voice, but it worked for a couple of the other members.
Not sure if I'm remembering right, but doesn't Blue let you try out their mics for some trial period?
