MWS and VSTI's: MIDI input gets "stuck"?

I'm working on this jingle, and quite often, I'll be working on a piano part for a while, then I want to move to another instrument, one that's already been used in fact. So I scroll down to the pertinent MWS track for this new instrument and start pounding the keyboard, but the piano is still playing. It seems to be stuck on piano.

Any idea what's going on?

UPDATE: I think I have it. If I leave the piano track armed for record, it keeps the hardware MIDI input. When I disarm the track, I can move to other instruments. Is this right? Is it like a safety in case you scroll to another MWS track by mistake?

Yes... once you arm record it locks the midi input to the track so you can't scroll off midstream.
