asus P5Q
intel E8400
2 gig corsair PC6400
radeon HD 3450 PCIe
segate barracuda 500g 7200
istarUSA 3U alum rack w/300w PSU
~ $750 shipped
RME digi 9652
near 100 outside saturday and sunday afternoons
reported CPU temp +/- 45C
nothing bad happened
16 channels
1 reverb
several delays
several comp/gate
all EQ
5 mixes +/- 12% load
this week i'l swap the 2 HDSP cards
and put the digi in the old box for backup/toy rig
some day i'l buy a raydat or 2
i was reminded that my sysco wireless G
will shut down when it get's hot
[it's not practical to run my cat5 string
on the outside stage]
the first rack i built was a steel 4U
and i never understood bob's concerns about
MB flexing in a rack mount case
this new one
while light as aluminum [duh...]
was scary rubber flexy
fortunately when you rack it up
it's much better and feels solid
flow thru w/ the included [small] fans is surprisingly
good but it is too noisy for a studio environ
[the back fan is reporting over 4k rpm]
live it's fine
YMMV
