  1. Hey, Brett
I'm pretty ignorant about these things. I'd just like to try out a levelizer shade that looks a bit different from the one that comes from Bob. Where do I download levelizer shades from? And what is a Simple version?
  2. I've done 4 or 5 versions of the levelizer. I don't have the Simple version of it yet. Is there a particular one you are looking for?

Dan -- one other idea is to check the MOV file's attributes (right-click/properties) and clear any attribute check marks that may appear to hamper your efforts. Like, maybe, 'hidden'? Just guessing, here.
  4. Thanks, Dave. The camera shows up in MS explorer, everything works normally with .jpgs but .mov file does nothing either when copying & pasting or dragging & dropping. I'll try my card reader & also the camera's native program if the client can find it. Thanks for the suggestions.

    Hi Dan,

What do you mean by " won't copy & paste to my video machine (or the audio machine..."? Are you trying to copy the MOV over the network to a different hard drive? Or are you trying to open it from within the video program?

What exactly are you trying to do?

If your camera is appearing in Windows Explorer as a drive, you should be able to copy/paste it to any other drive on the network that you have access to. Check access permissions (if it works for JPG's, you should be fine). Drag 'n' drop should work, too. Are you saying this stuff isn't working?

You could also try taking the memory stick out of the camera and putting it into a card reader to see if you get different results.

If you don't have a card reader, you could also use the camera's native program to download images to a hard drive, then try the copy/paste again from there.
  6. Thanks, Richard! A friend is doing it for free & I try not to pressure him. I have plans to put samples of work up for people to check out....Things like video with camcorder mics vs. the same video with multi-track audio, yadda, yadda. Do need to post charges & I have a devil of a time charging old ladies for restoring reel-to-reels of dead children, transferring recordings of kids killed in 'Nam & so forth. Also, I dread people looking at me like I just said "Stick 'em up" when I say $45/hr for something that it's taken me a lifetime to get good at. I'm not much of a businessman.

I checked out your site Dan, and I certainly don't feel qualified to critique it. Having said that, I did miss looking at some pretty pictures of your setup. Maybe a posted rate schedule too... not necessary, really... but it might be nice for people looking to transfer some old video and afraid to call for a quote.

Just a thought. But you've got a pretty all-encompassing offering there for sure!
  8. Thanks for replying, Richard. Don't remember what the question was either! I think perhaps I had gone to your message area & saw that it said you didn't have any friends, so I thought that was rather sad & thought I'd extend my hand. Let me know if you ever have any questions I might be able to answer. I've been doing audio & now audio & video for a living (such as it is) since 1989. Check out my website & give me a critique.

    Hi Dan,

Well, even though I read the forum daily, I rarely check my profile. I did today for some unknown reason and then linked to your profile. I noticed that you had a question back in September of '08 that I never read, and therefore I never responded (I didn't realize you had asked the question... seems like there should be some sort of notice to let us know about these...nay?) Anyway, I in fact don't know much about video at all, so couldn't have helped you anyway. You probably have gotten the answer by now (I think I recall your asking on the forum), but if not, there are definitely guys on this forum who can help you, including Bob.

Anyway, sorry I didn't respond to your question.

  10. Dan:

I just received the audio recording of my Mother's Funeral, Millie Tobin, and I can't say enough about how great the quality of the audio is along with the label you made. It is fantastic. I don't have your phone # any more as I want to pay you to create two more copies, one for my Sister and one for my Brother and mail them to them. Of course I could just copy your CD, but the label is so professional that nothing would match it and I will treasure what you've done. Please get in contact with me. My personal email is: or my work #, 713-780-3333. Again, thank you.
