Channel compressor display funky ??
 I just noticed that the compressor display led bar graph does'nt work when I click on the Dyn link in the MT window ??? , if I move the ch. display down with the mouse it comes back , but if I move it up it does'nt ????? WTF
Very wierd , I did try some XP sp2 tweeks to improve performance ( it may have been doing it before this not sure ) so I undid them , no help ??
Anybody ever seen this before ???? Bob/Robert
Thanks
Buzz
OHH it does it with the gate also !!!
PS: I'll recheck the tweeks and settings tomorrow , I have a Matrox G450 video board installed with Emu 0404 card and Lacie FF800 card

Going to need more specifics as to what the display setup is... works fine here.
Where is the E mixer view?... is it a dual monitor setup?... what else may be unique about the F-key layout?... any other views on top of it?...

Re: Channel compressor display funky ??
This happens to me too, what I do is move the full mixer view up or down a little (it usually needs to be moved up a little bit, IIRC), and the meters will start working again, then I create my F-Key views with the full mixer in the right place.
I also have issues with the Levelizer and Delay plugins disappearing.
If I'm adjusting things using the drop down menus, such as setting a compression ratio or adjusting the delay time while playback is active, the plugin will just disappear, except sometimes for the window that I was adjusting, the plug is still there but is invisible, I need to stop playback, remove the plug, then close and re-open SS to get back to normal.
I don't recall if it's ever happened with the Paragraphic EQ tho.
Re: Channel compressor display funky ??
Still don't know about the compressor meter... I have never seen that one mess up yet... but the plugin problems may be due to one of the fixes we discovered while working on Pieter's compressor display issues. He also discovered a small loophole in my other plugs that may cause this problem, especially on a dual cpu system.
I'll look into trying the same code change he used in his plug and see what happens.
Other than that, these kinds of weird graphic things can happen if you have Windows set to use the fancy menu effects and the show windows contents while dragging options turned ON... try turning those things off.. they are serious hogs anyway.

Ya gotta love teamwork! :D

That'd be great for people like me who are still chugg'in along with dual cpus.
I don't know if this is the same 'inactive' comp meter issue that I've seen in the past but I've seen evidence of 'sleepy' gain reduction meters on my system. (Tyan Tiger, Dual Athlon, Matrox G450DH).
Re: Channel compressor display funky ??
Do yourself a favor once and try running in single cpu mode... you will most likely see all kinds of weird behavior dissapear.
Simply open the boot.ini file in the root folder and copy the OS line of text.
Change the name of the second line to "Single CPU" and add /onecpu to the end of the line.
Now when you reboot you will have a choice to boot into the normal dual mode or the single cpu mode... my guess is that you won't really notice any performance difference, but may find all kinds of stability in every program that you may not have had before.
Dual cpus are tricky beats to tame and it depends on many things outside of my control as an individual apps programmer. Drivers, and thousands of Windows and other manufacturer dlls have to all be properly programmed specifically for dual operation and stability... and it will probably be a long long time before every dll on your system reaches that level of perfection.

Re: Channel compressor display funky ??
I can say Ive never seen these meter problems before...
but I have had the compressor AND levelizer both stop acting on the sound even when they are certainly turned on. It's happened many times with the last update.
Re: Channel compressor display funky ??
I must say I have never seen that before... can you give me duplicatable conditions.
I use the Channel compressors pretty much all the time in every session I do and have never had one randomly stop working.
Check to make sure you have not accidentally written in some un-intentional automation while in Automation mode.

Re: Channel compressor display funky ??
Since the other thread I posted about the levlizer portion of the issue I cant figure out what is causing it exactly.
but I know putting the frequency analyzer before the levelizer on the master channel knocks out the levelizer about 2/3 times here.
Ive made sure there's no automation or anything... I cant figure it out at all.
I cant get it to happen in anything but 3.9b, tho it did happen once or twice in 3.9a when the levelizer would "freak out" and do all sorts of weird things.
Re: Channel compressor display funky ??
Shawn,
I'm assuming you have done the following in XP:
rt.click on My Computer > Properties
Advanced Tab
Performance > Settings
Select 'adjust for best performance' > Apply
Scroll down list, select 'use common tasks in folders' > Apply
OK out of all applets
If you are running dual cpu's, or a P4 with Hyper-Threading enabled, test this.
In SAW...
Options > Check 'force Single CPU'
See if the issues go away.
