Metaplugin is what I have used for a while. I use the side chaining all the time. My biggest gripe is that you can*t see what is on each track in an older session without opening every Metaplugin...
I was really hoping this would work well. I might try it again and see if I get different results.
So I gave this a shot using the 64bit version of SawStudio. The VST3 plugins all got wrapped OK. But, in using them in Saw, things were not ready for prime time on my machine. Each wrapped VST took...
My issue is graphic freezes while the plugin is open and drawn. I haven’t noticed it as much recently on UAD plugins. Also, sometimes all the labels on the multitrack disappear until a restart of...
Random freezes in SAWStudio64. Mostly with a few plugins. Izotope***8217;s Insight2 freezes a lot. but, other Juce based plugins are fine. Not sure what the issue is, but it seems to happen more...
As to Juce, I have been having an issue where the graphics on some plugins freeze up and stop updating until reloading the session. I wonder if this can be traced to Juce. Izotope plugins seem to...
One thing Metaplugin does that this VST2 solution won’t provide is access to the key input that VST3 plugins have. I use the keying quite often, but for those plugins that I don’t need the keying...
I am observing it for perhaps a tenth of a second. I can live with that.
I don’t use .ini files at all. When starting SS, it scans them faster than I can read the window. I have 493 in the list. I am uncertain I could perceive a faster scan. But, I will trust the .ini...
Trillian and all the Spectrasonics software will take a while to load. They all seem to “phone home” to see if there are updates and if active in your session, they will need time to load all the...
There are a number of things about your room I would address if I was recording there.
First off and most important for the bass resonances, I would triangulate the four corners of the room with...
The only issue I am aware of is that latency inducing plugins in the prefader slot offset the playback of audio such that the automation is early to the audio by the amount of the latency. SS keeps...
Yes, this is how I most often use the output track layers. Also they can be used to A/B some setting, but I rarely use it that way.
AFAIK, it is only latency inducing ones in the prefader slot which can cause automation errors. But, I am so well trained not to use latency inducing plugins there, it has been a long time since I...
I always have a pretty quick undo path so that I am not stuck with a processed file. Usually I will have a number of disabled tracks that have the original plugins and audio still in the session....
When working on long form dialogue EQ, I typically find what I think is the best sounding piece for each character and use that as a template for Izotope match EQ which I then process to one track. ...
The wpd files are low resolution views of the waveform that are used when zoomed out. As the amount of data used gets smaller as you zoom in, the view seamlessly switches to the full resolution data....
I often use a soft-edge for this by removing the front half of the P and starting a soft-edge at the beginning, or automate the high pass filter to remove energy below 120, or both. Izotope also...
Could it be DC offset on an input?
Well it can use up enough ram that you end up with virtual ram being used, which is a fantastic way to slow down a computer. But, you probably can check in Task Manager if this is the case. I have...
I would turn off Region Memory Caching and remove unused regions.
BTW, Izotope is all VST3 now, so you will need to use Metaplugin or BlueCat wrappers to use them in SAW64.
So are UAD & Waves for that matter.
My additional comments inline in this somewhat shouty font.
Not really my area of expertise, but I will see what I do to "chime-in":
Q1) When upgrading to the 64 but version, will old EDLs...
This is pretty easy to do in SAW without a plugin. Make a duplicate of the track. Place it earlier in time. Mute the output. Use its track number as the key to the gate on the primary channel.
