    If you opt to go back to Windows 7 or newer, you can set processor affinity via the target line on the shortcut.

    I'm not saying that will definitely have problems, but you more than likely will. The bridge chipset usually forces all of the pci slots to one IRQ. which for audio generally spells disaster. YMMV

    There is nothing in Bob's recommended tweaks that would cause that problem with a normal working install of xp. What programs in task manager are putting your cpu at 100 percent.
