Hey Sean - the automation on the return track is full of mutes and fx bypasses. Things come in and out all the time - it would impossibly complicated - unless there is some kind of global bypass...

Work-around is to copy the automation from the offending track/return/sub to a different layer and then erase all automation from the original mix layer.
