I understand how VMs work...that's what I do for a living. :)
There's still overhead for the virtual-to-physical layer translation (basically an additional level of MMU or address translation), I...
Just curious if anyone has tried running SAC as a virtual machine with either Windows or macOS as the host operating system, and what your experiences were.
I fired up one of my Windows 10 VMs and...
I haven't, but they shouldn't have varied much - VST2 functionality stayed pretty much the same, with the exception of improvements for 64-bit versions.

I haven't ruled out SAW/SAC-native versions, but I had my hands full getting version 3 out the door. That was over two years of truly down-and-dirty work.
Now I can get back to doing what I enjoy...
Using three clocked from ADAT on a MOTU 2408mkII. No problems ever.
The older Digidesign ASIO drivers were notoriously bad. Not sure that's still the case, but I'd be wary.

Because you can run out of fader while mixing. Better to get everything close to a nominal mix with faders zeroed and have more room to move.
From a Signal/Noise standpoint, there shouldn't be...
No, you don't NEED to do that. Changing the knob is kind of the equivalent of changing your distance to the cabinet to make it more or less prone to feedback. They were rolling it all the way off...
I haven't noticed the bootcamp processes making any difference at all (OS X 10.6.8, BootCamp 3.2, Windows XP Pro SP3), although there's really no need to have the tasktray icon running if you're not...
Indeed it appears that it may! :)
I allocated 200 GB to Windows XP, updated to SP3 and all Windows Updates, Did the Blackviper "stripped down" service tweaks (no other GUI tweaks), installed...
Hmm...I've got a "spare" Mac Mini (Core2Duo 1.8 GHz, 4 GB RAM) that I can try and fire up with a MOTU 8pre and ADA8000...that'd give me a 16x10 rig that wouldn't break my back to load in and out (the...
Audix OM5 has always worked well for me, stupidly high GBF, and the Sennheiser e835 is surprisingly good for as cheap as it is...lower GBF than the Audix, but a little smoother response, IMO.

Hey...not ALL of us! I take my bass in gig bag over one shoulder and a MarkBass 1x12 combo in the other hand and I'm in the venue and ready to play. I don't play particularly quiet music, either.

I do the same (48/24)...but the following link is pretty darned interesting and well-written:

Dingdingding...give the man a cigar. SIP was on. Doh. I did double- and triple-check that I was on the correct devices, though...that's why I was so confused.
Lesson learned...I'll fix that.

Had the SAC rig out again last night for a birthday party with a cause...a band member in one of the groups I play in celebrated his 50th birthday by renting out a venue and bringing in an...
I've played a gig where the entire rig was K-series boxen, including K12s for wedges. GOOD sounding monitors, with plenty of volume. I had been roped into doing lead vocals for a short (thank God!)...
I had 50' of CAT5e cable with me...just no time to run it.
Interesting aside...I was in a hurry and bought the cable at Best Buy (not my normal IT hardware source, I assure you). If you go to...
I'll have to make that part of the process next time...although updating the Airport's is not trivial without a Mac, as I recall (I programmed mine at home attached to my Mac Mini). A 802.11n access...
Well, FINALLY got off the stick and took SAC out to a small club to run a four-piece band (gtr, bass, keys+sax, drums, 4 vox, with multiple guitar and keyboard channels).
I was using my i5 machine...
F-Key views can switch between mixers??? Doh.
That would do the trick, and yes, I'm pretty sure that you can issue the equivalent of F-Keys from the control surface (app).

EDIT: Wow,...
Bob,
Is there any way that we can look forward to some method of switching between FOH and monitor mixes via the control surface? I realize there may be some oddities in trying to find a WAY to...
I've used some of their drum mics before and felt okay about them...didn't love 'em, but didn't hate 'em either. They got a lot of use.

There's already a TouchDAW app for Android that supports various implementations of MCU interface. You'll need an additional package to support MIDI over TCP/IP...it's either done via multicast or...
