Ah, good to know Bob. I will check for anything there.
Thank you,
Jon
Thanks for your words of wisdom Dell.
I had previously done a simple copy to a new computer that worked fine. This time was a different animal altogether.
The new install is much better all...
Sorry Dell--I did not see your last post before my final one. It was a copy and all Win10.
I reinstalled fresh in a new folder and that worked better.
I'll continue on this track and call it...
Just one more hurdle to clear on the new PC:
There are old dlls in the VST folder that need to be deleted since the plugins are no longer on the computer.
I deleted what I can, but am now at a...
The PC is back early and I made good progress with extending permissions.
The .prf, .grp and .fky files are all updating.
I can now create and alter FX groups, keyboard layouts, and...
Interesting info on the data files. Now that you mention it, the .fky file didn't bring back the keyboard layout when I ran the program on the new machine.
Still waiting to get it back from...
OK Dave--I'll take a deeper look at that first.
Thanks,
Jon[/SIZE]
I did have a backup from yesterday and discovered that the .grp file you mentioned hasn't updated since July!
As mentioned I did reinstall SAW over itself yesterday.
Maybe a clean install is...
Thanks to you both for getting back.
It's a new PC and I didn't think to check permissions.
The computer is back on the bench today and I'll let you know how things check out when I get it back....
Something new to me...
I modify an existing SAWLite FX group or create a new one, then close SAW and reopen but the changes don't take.
Tried saving the Preferences file with the above but maybe...
Perfect Bob--thank you!
We've been SAW aficionados since 1996 and love it.

Bob,
I'm now ready to request an upgrade from SAWStudioLite to Full64.
Per this thread, please email me so I can send you my user info to upgrade from Lite to Basic (to 64).
Thanks!
Jon
BINGO!
Usually I first check plugs if there are playback issues.
There was one on the output track (Perspective from Oscillot Audio) that's worked fine before but turned out to be the culprit this...
Excellent tips to follow guys.
Thanks again and I'll report back after checking everything.
Jon
Interestingly, Soundfile View works fine. And I can see levels in Multitrack View but still no sound and no meter activity in SAW or the interface.
I can open working files without restarting SAW....
Good question!
I'll verify and post back.
Thanks,
Jon
This is a new one.
In one edl only, everything was fine but the next time I opened it, I heard only static.
Meters showed signal but there was no "sound".
I tried changing the driver to ASIO but...
Thanks for the info.
I agree that the driver settings shouldn't make a difference but something happened and I just went through a process of elimination/tweaking to get the snap back.
Unlike the...
VICTORY!
To a fault and probably like a lot of yous guys, I'm extremely tenacious and determined about solving software/hardware problems--I will win.
Not so good when my beloved wants me to stop...
Thanks for the tip Bob.
Yes I did select only one track but still slow.
I've also tried every audio device and driver setup option but still the same.
Going to check my work setup today which...
Oops - Levelizer.
It usually just zips right along and finishes in a few seconds with no other processing engaged.
Now it creeps at about 1% a second, about the same as building a mix.
Can't see...
Fantastic news! I can't imagine the work involved--thank you so much for making it happen!
Jon
And I forgot to mention that there were no OS changes or new plugs.
I noticed the display seemed to freeze some tracks and needed refreshing more often, hitting the same F-key.
It's a 2-hour show...
Just now had a chance to get back on this.
I'm OK with the solution of splitting the track around the small problem area, deleting it and stretching the track back over it to close the gap.
I don't...
