Re: Windows 8 Pro and Microsoft Surface

I have the Pro3, love it. I believe the hardware on the Pro 2 is functionally the same aside from the obvious screen real estate & the pen. My primary caveat: daylight visibility on either is in the...

Re: Soundcraft Si Performer - Dante and SAC..

We've experienced fader oddities with the presonus consoles in the real world. First, they are not moving faders, which is a non-starter for many folks...but that aside; as they age & encounter the...

Re: Lenovo Yoga 2 as remote?

My pro3 at 12" and 2160x1440 is great. I realize quality of image sometimes suffers with resolution scaling, so one of the first things I did with it was checked to see how it looked if I 'blew it...

Re: Lenovo Yoga 2 as remote?

I disagree, remember that resolution is the maximum. No reason you can't dumb it down a bit if you need elements to be larger.

We're losing them faster than we're replacing them. Particularly those who practice that lost, dark art of actually singing. Rest well Joe

    Re: Tablet and Plugin question...

Thanks Bob, I knew that (hence the "I realize it's only two taps with the stylus to do it")...good to reiterate though as others might well have missed that.
Wasn't really listing a problem as much...

Re: Drum Loom or dedicated Snake ...

I tend towards drum loom historically. I buy lots of the same XLR cable when buying, & just dedicate some of them to becoming looms. Rather than a traditional loom I make a flat braid of either 6 or...

    Re: Tablet and Plugin question...

For the record, so far I freakin love my surface3. I use it all of the time.

I do wish the stylus buttons were programmable as a dedicated erase button is nigh onto useless for me & the top...

    Re: Gate settings advice sought...

To expound a touch more about amp placement: in my perfect world, open back amps should almost always be at side of stage pointing in, and closed back amps should be either there, or on the monitor...

    Re: Gate settings advice sought...

The Sonalksis compander is a downward expander and/or upward compressor. You can make each band do either, it also features frequency consciousness on each band and a global filter for the whole...

    Re: Gate settings advice sought...

To put it mildly, gates are very tricky to use on vocalists live. Generally not recommended. If you want some noise reduction on vocals, an expander is a better choice as the threshold point isn't...

    Re: Lowering latency

IMHO, you may be limited to around 2x64 or 1x128 buffering by your CPU & motherboard. Back when I was using a couple of similar P4 based computers that was the best I could ever get to be stable and...

Dropkitty: my cute name for a DIY xlr to RG45 balun set, easy to make of you have some basic tools and decent soldering skills.

    Re: Digiface Spdif in help....

and yes, there is no reason you couldn't make a dropkitty set to use a Cat5/6 cable to run up to 4 balanced analog signals either direction. Saves weight and expense over a traditional snake cable.

    Re: New Old Rack

I went with Supermicro chassis, they make several that are relatively unique, 1U & short (14"), or stupid short(9")...in addition to the ones that are too long that dominate everyone else's designs....

    New Old Rack

I just lucked into a used Anvil 17U shockmount rack left at a club I work with 2 years ago by some unknown visiting production. It was empty...and now it's not ;)

    Re: Customer Service #1

I return to my earlier advice about adat and firewire cables: Lexel

  20. Re: ASIO Problem.. weird_anyone seen this before?
