The latest version of Splashtop is a bit of a CPU hog. I have it on my iPad to be able to access a PC that I have running headless, but I literally use it then stop the app on the iPad immediately...
I've used my SAC system a few times for live band, multitrack recording and broadcast feed to Internet radio at the same time. Works a treat. FOH does.... Well, FOH into the room for the audience....
All of my amp racks are fitted with powercon near to XLR input chassis connectors. Never had any issues....
If you're looking for a rack mounted Pc case in the UK, then X-Case are worth a look. www.xcase.co.uk
I use one of their cases. it's 4u and lots of unused space inside, but just fits into a std...
It's not entirely feasable to use entirely native plug ins with SAC.
But it is necessary to experiment with different VST plugs in order to find those that a) sound good and b) are the most CPU...
I've yet to hear an L1 system sound good for rock n roll. IMO they are only for cabaret. No headroom to speak of....
Anwida do a nice VST 31 band graphic EQ. Bob has recently said in another thread that he'd consider developing a remoteable one as a native plug in.
Keep an eye out on ebay and gumtree...
I picked up both my HDSP9652 cards on ebay at a reasonable price.#
Others have had success with the MOTU 2408 units and 424 PCI card; again ebay is the best...
I'm a "less is more" kinda guy....
my mixes would typically include maybe 4 gates and 3-4 comps, EQ on all inputs inc HPF on a lot of them. I don't go much for inserted FX on individual channels,...
not sure about the Presonus as an interface, but my old SAC host Pc was a P4 3.2ghz with 2Gb of RAM and I ran 24 channels and up to 6 monitor mixes with that. Monitors tapped from FOH post EQ, RML...
I've actually tried this out with my new SAC PC....
I forgot my router for 1 gig and just plugged the cat 5 that usually goes from host PC to router straight into the netbook. it assigned IP...
If you do go with Reaper, just make sure that when you initially set it up, that you assign the Reaper outputs to a pair of unused outputs on your system.
Other than that caveat, it's really...
That's exactly what I do in fact...
I carry a spare laptop and firewire cable in case the SAC host gives up the ghost.
I'm also very happy with the performance and features on the ProFire.
Correct.
The only way to get more channels using ProFires would be just to use them as ADAT pre-amp units and use Raydat or whatever to get them into your PC.
I don't have any ADA8K's any more, but thought I had read that the line input was basically just tapped off the XLR mic input and a resistor placed in line....
I've seen a definate time lag when loading up a session that uses a certain waves plug. As has been mentioned, clear any VST plug ins and re-partch 1 at a time to try to chase it down.
Make up XLR-> TRS adaptors and plug into the line input jack sockets.... These still go through the pre-amp circuitry....
Anwida Dx reverb lite is very easy on CPU use and is a doddle to use. (free VST plugin)
Not with the E6300 but I run the E7400 with 2Gb of ram.
Typical mix session on my old P4 3.4Ghz machine was around the 45% mark.
With the E7400 it is around 21%.
If it's something that you...
Brent,
I reckon you'll be well pleased with the Profires. I've been using 3 as pre's for the past 4 or 5 months. Configure your 1st one via firewire to use one pair of outs (I use 7 and 8) as your...
yes... any mobile phone stylus for capacitive type screens should work. i bought my stylus from maplin in the uk, but i'd imagine radio shack probably stock something.
See if you are able to set your buffer size at 1 x 128. That's what I ran my P4 rig at. Like has been said, tap your monitor mixes at PST EQ or PST DYN, this will just duplicate the EQ down to the...
I don't use SS, but basically if it's something you're able to click with a mouse and it has a large enough surface area for your finger, then I'd imagine you'd be able to do the double click touch...
I should clarify that you don't HAVE to use a stylus with the ACER, on the stretched Z mixer fingers will work...
