I know you said "not IEM", but.... this worked for us and was cheap. We use sac, the $20 behringer ma-400, run lines to each position(in our case 4, using in one case a 30' cord) and shared a laptop...
Variety of Sound has a number of very useful plug-ins. They, along with
the Levelizer, are about all I use now. To my ears, they compliment Sawstudio very nicely. (Oh yeah, and they're free.)

Just down the road from there. Used to be the skating rink (which is still open) but now Faithful Servant Ministries. I use SAC and SAWLite on Wednesday worship times and on Sundays.
I'm in Huntsville- 30 miles east of Fayetteville. SAC and SawLite.
I ran into the same problem a while ago. I kept trying to get a higher volume level in SAW, and eventually realized that the level was being cut when the cd got written. I was using Media Player....
I use these all the time and they're free.
