  1. Default Calling all Computer People

I finished installing all the components into my 4 space server rack - it was huge until I starting installing components.

I fired it up and looked for smoke and everything seemed fine.

So now I am going to go through the motherboard options and install Windows XP.

I am not a computer person - I know enough to get things so they turn on, but as far as adjusting and tweaking or deciding options - well I just don't have that knowledge base.

So any advise would be appreciated.

    Dual video card
    320 GB SATA DRIVE

    Thanks,

Your default motherboard options should be ok. It's all the extra crud inside of windows you'll be spending your time on.

I believe there are some starting points with regards to optimizing XP in the SAC manual. After that, some google searching will yield decent results.

I'd suggest looking here - http://www.optimizingpc.com/optimize...sservices.html and then continuing on until you've got yourself a lean, mean machine.

This is good too - http://lifehacker.com/031440/turn-of...-up-windows-xp

Thanks, I think I went through the black viper stuff back in 2005 when I first set this computer up in the studio and had forgotten where I got the info for that.

This will be a dedicated system for audio so anything that doesn't support it is gone.
