Help quick!!

OK guy brought me a Fostex D1624 to dump 8 tracks and mix "The Messiah"
My setup Lenovo LT / Profire2626 / always worked fine "analog" now I have to lock it up to 48k / 24bit for the dump. Set to dump his 8 out ADAT 1 to my ADAT A in....so far ok set the profire to 48k "Internal" and there is digital crackling well I have to lock it to the Fostex, When I set the Profire to
"external" ADAT A it starts fine and then cuts out with an error message
and the Profire console swithches to 192k ! Whoa hang on I haven't tried the word clock option .....I'll try it and get back. In the meantime if anyone has a suggestion ? I wil be using SS full to record by the way. ...and he will be locking video to this mix.

Never mind....Word clock fixed it now for 2 hours of the "messiah" while I
try to fix amps and P.A.s Just panicked a bit..

Steve, don't worry too much about the ADAT not working. I've had a similar experience. My LynxTwo ADAT expansion card will not sync to my HDSP9652 via adat. I never figured out if it was a cable length issue or compatibility but WC fixed it. The symptoms were similar.

This is interesting. I've heard that using ADAT alone to lock devices isn't the best way, but I did it for years between my RME ADI-8DS and my digiface. After hearing a few stories I started to clock it via wordclock. There hasn't been any change in function and I don't think there's been any difference in sound, but then I'm not in a position to do an a/b comparison.

I've thought about going back to just using ADAT to sync, but I think I'll keep using WC now.

After I hooked up the word clock from the fostex to the Profire it sat and recorded for 2hr 20 minutes with out a glitch. Now I have to mix and edit
all weekend.

Either way I'll be busy... the track arrangements and mic placements were
well done, but a lot of following what choir etc. is on what mic arrangment
is going to be rough. I was out for 2 days for a funeral and it has put me a week behind. So now I pack up the system and take it home to finish up.
