    Default 48 channel record interface

A friend needs 48 channels of record. I'm trying to steer him Bobs direction, because I think that it is the best answer for his needs, and he seems to be open to the idea. But he's asking me about audio cards for 48 tracks, and I don't know the answer, as my rigs always topped out at 32. I know that budget is a consideration, as this is for a church. Best 48 channels on a budget?

    Two older RME Digi9652 cards.

Probably a MOTU PCI rig would be my guess. They are not inexpensive when brand new but there is plenty of used to be had on eBay.

MOTU and RME seem to be the main 2 manufacturers that really pay much attention to the higher channel count users in my opinion.

I have a solid state logic Madi card for test,
It cost around 700 dollers and gives you 64 in/out.
SLL. Make a lot different madi boxes with mixed
Analog and digital in/outputs for the madi card.
They often Have some Nice bundle prices.
I must admit that have not tested the card yet,
    But Will do next week.

What about some Motu 2408 MK2's? I used to use one and it worked great with Saw and you pick them up pretty cheap these days.

That's what I recommended. I think they are decent for the money spent on the used market. I also like them because you can get a maxed out SAC or SAW system with one a single PCI card. None of the other cards have that unless you go with one of the MADI cards, which of course are not for the budget conscious.
