We usually set these systems up to sum to mono, since the area of the building that actually would perceive a stereo mix is pretty small.

This is just one of many steps I take in the process of making the system function without advanced intervention. Some might call that making it "idiot-proof" but I would never sink so low...

Anyway, I get gain before feedback by getting the right speakers for the job and making sure they are properly placed and having a good op. (sorry, just being a snot about it.. )
Often, the right speakers for the job are out of reach financially, the proper placement gets vetoed by the aesthetics committee, and the ops are volunteers with hearing aids. We work with within the bounds and goals the customer sets for us, and give them the best sound we can when we're done. Then, we cash our checks. It's nice when we get a job like the one we're doing this week where the customer accepted all our recommendations, and agreed to purchase top quality gear, put it where we asked them to, and use it as it should be used (i.e. only by trained and carefully selected staff). They're going to have good results, and the job will be a nice showcase for us when we're done.

Not too long ago, we had a church ask us to put the FOH speakers at the back of the room, firing toward the stage. We drew the line at that... but their sound booth ended up in the front behind a glass wall. I put in monitors and tweaked them so the guy in the booth would hear about what the people on the front row were hearing... it works for them. They can worship the way they want to, and the system sounds better than what they had. They were tickled pink when we left. Then again, they were using a Fender Passport, so their expectations weren't very high. I didn't put "Proudly Installed By" stickers on anything in that job.

Yeah it could be useful for things where one input has the polarity swapped for some reason, but SAC already has that built into every input.

Other than something being miswired, I see no use for this except some that are just fooling themselves. OK... I will give you there is the old trick of cardiod subs, but something tells me that is beyond the needs of most small club gigs and there is more to it than just flipping the polarity as well.

Anyway, it sure seems to me that this entire thread should be taken with a bit of a grain of salt. Sorry but I don't buy that these have all been throughly tested out with SAC and all work fantastic with no issues what so ever.
Ok,whatever... then just don't flip it.It's up to you.
But please, keep in mind that this post is about Plugins and not about live mixing engineer technics.

Just stumbled upon this nice MB Dynamic EQ
Tryed the DEMO and I was blown away.
    Sound awesome!!!!!

    It's not a freeware plugin,
It costs 40 Eur but it's a way better solution than W's C4 and it sound the way MB DynEQ should.

The entire Melda Productions pack is fantastic. Plunk down the money to get the "Free" pack (which is really trialware, not free -- but the trial versions are fully usable, just with ads and a few features broken). Its well worth the small amount he charges -- you get all 22 of the "free" ones for your 40 euros, and about 1/3 of them are pretty useful for live sound. I use the EQ and the Analyzer all the time, and occasionally decide to use the compressors.

I feel like his multi-band compressor might be worth it too... but I've not decided to try it yet.

They don't remote real-time in SAC, but bob's "click the button to update" scheme works fine with them.

    7AMP - NoiseGate (DeNoiser - NoiseReduction VST)

Another Fantastic VST plugin that will save u some $
It's free and it does a fantastic job!

Years back I was using VirtosNoiseWizard a shareware plug when reamping crappy guitars and mixing stuff with lot's of noise or his.I needed the same thing for live application when using some signals from floorboard guitar processors or whatever noisy signal. Unfortunately, every profiling DeNoiser plugin would add a massive delay and it would be useless for live shows. But I just recently stumbled upon this little baby! Simple and effective.
No parameters but it does the job!

the only thing you will have to do is REGISTER for free

    TubeOhm's T-Xciter

This is the best Xciter I've heard on PC after Aphex!
It's not freeware but worth the money.

Who ever used the Aphex 204 live will be more than happy with this VST plugin!

Will post some audio files later ...

Most VST plugs are. You just have to make changes and then click on the blue triangle to send an update of the settings to the host.

But it is a bit of trial and error as some of them don't like to work properly this way.
