    Default Winamp through SAC :-)

    Finally!
Ok here is how I solved the mp3 or direct audio stream into SAC with 00% process power usage

What u need is VirtualAudioCable - nonfree
    or an onboard integrated soundcard
    Asio4All drivers - free
Winamp VST bridge plugin instaled into Winamp
and Warmhole2 vst - freeware plugin

For testing,Instal the demo version of Virtual Audio Cable and the ASIOO4All drivers
Also instal VST bridge and put the Warmhole into SAC vst folder and copy that plugin into winamp so that it could use it also.

Open winamp, and in the preferences select DSP/VSThost/ load DLL Warmhole
on the warmhole plugin select a name - NIK and pres the start button.Adjust the latency to 1000 or even more so you could be sure you dont get skipped buffer.

On the winamps output in the prefs.select Virtual Audio Cable 1 for the output. This way you won't be using any audiocard and all audio will be happening virtually.

Open SAC,load tyhe vst plugin Wormhole into a channel and select FX for input on that channel.Pull the fader up as the naster too.Select from the CHOOSER dropdown menu on the right side of the plugin the "NIK end" option so you could define that the pligin should be the end of the audio chain. Also define the buffer 2000 or as you wish...

As you press play in Winamp, the music will apear on the master bus forcing you to smile

The same can be achived with using a simple onboard non conflicting audio card and in winamp selectiong it as the main audio card,so that SAC could use the RME drivers or whatever cards u are using.

    That's it...
If you can't get it work I will up some pictures so it will be much easyer.

    All the best,
    Nik

Or, you could use Foobar. It will connect via its own ASIO plugin and you can control it remotely via the foo_httpcontrol web interface. I think VLC has a wb interface as well.

Here is a screen shot of my remote web interface for foobar2000:

You're getting Foobar to show up in SAC using VirtualAudioCables and Wormhole, the way operationwhat described, or by a more direct method?

I connected the S/PDIF out of the RME RayDAT card to the S/PDIF in (of the same card, with a double male RCA adapter). Foobar output is set to S/PDIF and I assigin a channel in SAC to the S/PDIF in. S/PDIF out is unassigned in SAC. Foobar has an ASIO plugin and you can pick the RayDAT S/PDIF in that. Also, I have the foo_httpcontrol plugin installed, with the skin shown above. I modified the skin to my preference. There is also a touchremote plugin that allows you to connect with an iPad or iPhone running the standard Apple Remote app.

I had WinAmp running in a similar fashion once, but I like foobar2000 and the flexibility it provides much better. I even have a directory of test tones, sweeps, snare hits, drum loops, etc. for audio testing and reverb tweaking. Foobar is set to repeat for these.

I installed everything as in the post, below.
In winamp, the wormhole plugin is connected.
But in the SAC, the plugin says: The host is not feeding audio to wormhole2.
In virtual audio cable, everything seems to work.
    Then ???? No sound.

ok,the Virtual Audio Cable does not have to play anything because we transfer the audio with wormhole2 straight to SAC.There should be no sound from winamp because the sound goes to SAC as we use the wormhole in it as an receiver.Be sure that you have selected "FX" as the I/O of the channel in which you've inserted wormhole2.The Virtual Audio Cable is needed to act as an virtual asio card so that winamp could play virtualy music into "nowhere" unless you've inserted wormhole before the winamp output section - in the DSP section.

I just tested it again...if you wish I can make a vid so it would be easyer for you to check all the settings. It's actually easy but maybe a bit different for me to explain it to you the right way.Try it once again step by step.

    1. in winamp load dsp/vst/worhole, and make a name, select start and add latency + select "play through"
    2. for winamp output - select Virtual Audio Cable
    3. SAC - ch1 load wormhole into fx and choose THE Name from the dropdown menu, select end
    4. SAC - I/O select FX as input
    5. SAC - Pull the faders up...

Is VAC a necessary component if you have something else to play to? I mean -- can you set WinAmp to use the computer's sound card, and then just not bother to plug soundcard's wire into anything?

If your audio interface has a pair of digital in/outs like the S/PDIF in/out on the RME or MOTU interfaces, then you don't need any software other than Winamp and SAC. Simply connect the in and out via an RCA cable and you've established a digital loopback. Configure Winamp to use the S/PDIF out device and SAC to use the S/PDIF in device and you're off to the races.

One thing you'll need to do is ensure that you don't have the S/PDIF out device selected as a useable output device in the SAC audio device setup config as this can cause problems if SAC tries to take hold of it.

But is there a way to run WinAMP remotely? I tried several solutions and they all sucked. That's why I switched to foobar2000. What is the current preferred way to run WinAMP remotely? Is there even a decent solution for this?
