I own 4 lollipops and 6 lipsticks. I'm about to use them ALL on a show at Benaroya Hall in Seattle called Ten Grands, in which we'll have 10 grand pianos on stage at one time.

Drop some Window Pane, think of your worst Liberace nightmare and multiply it by 10. Oh, and toss in some very big egos and some feedback.

There's also a version that has a hybrid XLR/air-supply connector, so you can sing underwater.

    Ira,
This is a very nice mic, and it looks cool: http://cadaudio.com/Trion6000.php I've not used it live, but I always choose it over my 87s whenever I need more "sheen" in what I'm capturing. Boy, does that sound pretentious! Sorry.

Anyway, it's large (and heavy), but if that's not an issue for your application, I think you'll like it. Give it a try.

Maybe check Cascade. (Condensers at the bottom of the page)
The Elroy has some kind of internal shock mount built in. Maybe that would helpful.

I've been use'n/see'n the FatHead II (ribbons) on stage all over the place.
The brown/gold FatHead II's get lots of comments on "the look"...sound great.. N' they're relatively cheap.

Or for a more nostalgic look (i.e. RCA BK's) check Cloud (ribbon only).

If I'm not mistaken, the Fathead (and all ribbons?) are figure 8 pattern. Not good imo for gain before feedback from a vocal wedge.

True. I have not seen the FatHeads used on vocals positioned in front of a wedge. Just on cabinets towards the back of the stage.
Like the pic on the Cascade home page.. (Steely Dan was using them on their Shuffle Diplomacy tour).

The FatHeads are Passive (for whatever that's worth). N' I've seen sound barriers placed on the back side to help reduce the reflection and control feedback.

Sorry.. didn't mean to muck up the conversation with talk about ribbon mics.
I shoulda stayed focused on the Elroy and/or the V57 cardiod condensers.

Won't feedback still be a problem using a cardiod condenser in close proximity to a wedge?
No doubt you have tricks up your sleeve.

With some performers, I've had feedback problems with no microphones and no wedges! The trick is to use REALLY BIG earplugs and ignore them complaining...

Once you start with windowpane, problems just seem to vanish!
