Is it possible to have multiple remotes with a wired network? Any "gotchas"? This would be for an installation..

Get a switch not a hub. Direct runs to every remote and NO outside connect!

We do it at church. Wired remote and wireless. As was said, private network, no outside access, hide and password protect the wireless if you use it.

I'm wondering if it is possible to do with a wired network only.

Yes. Absolutely it is possible, and in many ways preferred to have only wired. Like it was said earlier though, use a switch, not a hub.
