Default MOTU trying to improve themselves

So there has been some interesting email posts to the theatre sound email list as of late regarding MOTU hardware, it's drivers and support (or lack there of).

A couple of MOTU representatives have actually joined the theatre sound email list and have started to interact with the theatre sound community in order to improve relations between MOTU and the world of theatre sound.

Over the last few years there have been a number of nagging issues affecting some of the more popular MOTU hardware that is used in theatre. And it's started to get a bad rep for being unreliable and of course MOTU has had a long history of a bad rep for it's customer support.

So it's refreshing to see a change of mood from MOTU. And it will also benefit those MOTU users here as well. For one you don't have to get a user ID and password to get to the driver downloads anymore. And they are supposedly working on allowing access to older versions of their hardware drivers. Both of those could prove a good step forward for all MOTU hardware owners.

    More good news:

"MOTU used to verify registration to determine PCI card upgrade eligibility, but we have not enforced that policy in some time. Currently anyone who wants to purchase PCI card can do so through larger resellers or directly from MOTU.

Have they finally made their manuals available in pdf format as well? When I tried getting manuals for mine, they wanted me to register and pay to have them shipped out.

Yes. That is actually old news though. Look under the support section of their site

I just took a look again, under legacy products there is nothing for the 2408 MKII or the 2408 MKI.

Oh well... no one's perfect I guess. You could just download the 2408 MKIII manual as it's largely the same thing.

But I would also say that the 2408 is a pretty easy piece of gear to figure out just by looking at the unit.

Of course I have at least one copy of the manual that came with one of my units... so it didn't matter all that much to me...
