the stereo flux plug is not quite what we're looking for for either Brett or my scenarios. The objective is to be able to create a slope of varying degrees of phase change that increases at an adjustable rate from one or more selectable frequency points...might be a better way to describe it...

So... an adjustable Phase-Shifting De-Esser could also be another use of what you're describing. Focusrite uses that kind of circuit on their 430 MKII... but I don't know (yet) of a plugin that does such (sure would be nice though!)

Are you looking for the frequency selection to be variable, or do you want little labs style variable phase at different frequencies?

Variable phase shifters like the aforementioned little labs work using all pass filters in the first place and work by altering the frequency of the filters.

The simplest way to achieve part of this is to use say a 31 band graphic circuit (or software emulation) and allow the user to flip the polarity of each band.

Adding the variable idea to each band is going to get very messy and very bizarre, to be completely frank the resulting creation wouldn't be all that useful, the shifts would probably have to be linked and controlled by seriously hardcore algorithm, and the more bands (or variable sections) get added the messier its all going to get.

Similar concepts exist in the form of so called zero phase, or the incorrectly named apple "linear phase EQ"

Any bank of filters to do frequency dependent filtering are going to mess with the phase integrity of your signal anyway, filters work by playing with time/phase.

If you want to test your concept and maybe make a vst out of it i'd suggest mocking up the idea in Synthedit http://www.synthedit.com/ Say create a basic EQ circuit and then start adding bandpass or polarity flips in the band circuits.

You're also going to run into latency issues with this idea.

I may have an easier way to describe what I'm looking for, it may or may not fit the bill for Brett as well.

A plug that is essentially something like the phase only version of a crossover filter, it needs to operate as an allpass for frequency, but it needs to have slope and knee points for phase that are variable, not just a few fixed options to choose from. Wouldn't need more than two filters for my purposes. The ability to choose between continually wrapping or shelving the phase angle beyond a separately variable point in the filters effective band would be a useful feature if it was easy.

I'm knee-deep in festival season, so I haven't had time to thoroughly explore some of the suggestions that have been already made, but a quick look at the descriptions hasn't left me thinking any of them are 'it'.

    hey all
was curious aswell for a plug doing phase shifting etc.
maybe the closest plug what Brent is looking for is,

    Stereo Phase Eq from VB-Audio,
    http://vb-audio.pagesperso-orange.fr...reoPhaseEQ.jpg
but it is part of the FX Module only for Innovason's "Ëclipse Console"
    http://www.innovason.com/products/ac...fx-module.html
So not available as VST plugin, but who knows if you send VB-audio a mail?

    but VB-audio has the C10 Comp/Limiter VST-plug
    http://vb-audio.pagesperso-orange.fr.../c10/c10_i.htm
maybe this one can do the job?

    greetings

    'Rephase', available on sourceforge: http://sourceforge.net/projects/rephase/?source=pdlp

Could be just the ticket if one has the time to plan for it and the computer horsepower for a convolution solution, here is the DIY audio forum thread link which will likely have answers to questions and a handy way to post to the developer if any questions are missed:

    http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/multi...ring-tool.html

It is a completely configurable tool that allows one to define phase correction needed, and then generates a phase modification impulse file for use in the convolver of your choice.

I've not tested it yet personally...

Looks interesting, I wonder if it would work with this:

Mellowmuse 0 latency IR1A convolution reverb
